International Discipleship Training Centre
A Vision We Are Praying Through Together
Seeking to obey Jesus' Great Commission by working together with churches, families, ministries, organizations, and the wider Body of Christ to make disciples who make disciples for generations to come.
The International Discipleship Training Centre (IDTC) is a vision we are prayerfully exploring for Bella Vista Church and the wider Body of Christ in our region.
We believe the Lord is calling His Church to intentionally obey the Great Commission by making disciples who make disciples, and we are seeking His direction for how that calling can be lived out in our community and beyond.
Our desire is not simply to start another ministry, but to cultivate a culture of lifelong discipleship where every generation is equipped to know Christ, follow Christ, and help others follow Him.
At the heart of this vision is the call of Jesus:
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."
Matthew 28:19–20
We believe Jesus has called every follower of Christ to make disciples who make disciples. This includes children, youth, families, leaders, churches, and future generations.
This vision is still in the early stages. We do not claim to have every answer, and we are not presenting this as a completed plan. We are seeking the Lord together through prayer, Scripture, wise counsel, and partnership with others who share the burden to disciple the next generation.
Why This Matters
We believe the next generation needs more than programs. They need to know Jesus, follow Jesus, and be taught to obey everything He has commanded.
The goal is not simply to create activities, but to help raise up disciples who love God, follow Christ, serve others, and become faithful witnesses in their homes, churches, schools, workplaces, and communities.
A Collaborative Kingdom Vision
This vision is not meant to belong only to Bella Vista Church. Our desire is to work together with churches, families, ministries, organizations, and individuals who share the same calling to make disciples of the next generation.
Jesus prayed for His followers:
"...that they may all be one... so that the world may believe that you have sent me."
John 17:21
We believe unity matters. As the Body of Christ works together, we can more faithfully obey the Great Commission and make a greater Kingdom impact in our communities.
Possible Expressions of the Vision
As we pray and discern next steps, some of the areas being explored include:
-
Discipleship training
-
Family discipleship
-
Youth and children's discipleship
-
Christian education
-
After school discipleship programs
-
Leadership development
-
Church partnerships
-
Community outreach
-
Missions training
-
Daycare ministry
These are not finalized plans. They are areas we are prayerfully considering as we ask the Lord what He wants to build and how He wants us to begin.
Partnering with CCEM
Bella Vista Church has begun partnering with the Canadian Christian Education Movement (CCEM) to help us prayerfully explore what may be possible in the area of Christian education and discipleship for the next generation.
As part of that partnership, a CCEM Task Force is being formed to pray, seek the Lord together, discuss possibilities, and explore practical next steps, including whether an after school discipleship program or other ministry opportunities may be part of how God is leading us.
How the Vision Is Beginning
As we seek the Lord's direction, several practical steps are beginning to take shape. These are not separate visions, but early expressions of the International Discipleship Training Centre as we prayerfully discern what God desires to build.
CCEM Task Force
The CCEM Task Force consists of church leaders, educators, families, ministry leaders, and others who share a burden for discipling the next generation.
The purpose of the task force is to pray, seek the Lord together, discuss possibilities, and explore practical next steps for Christian education and discipleship in our community.
Some of the areas we are prayerfully exploring include:
-
An after school discipleship program
-
Christian education opportunities
-
Partnerships with churches and Christian organizations
-
Leadership development
-
Prayerfully discerning future ministry opportunities
We recognize that these conversations are still in their early stages. Our desire is not to rush ahead, but to faithfully follow wherever the Lord leads.
